Frequently Asked Questions

HVAC Questions, Answered

Straight answers about heating, cooling, and air — from a licensed, owner-operated local team.

01

Booking & Service Area

How do I get a quote?

Call, text, or WhatsApp us — or send a few photos of your setup through our quote form and we'll take it from there. Most quotes are ready the same day.

Are quotes free?

Yes — always free, no obligation, no pressure. We'd rather you have an honest number to compare than guess.

How fast can you come out?

Often same day for no-heat and no-cool calls. For everything else, we give you a real arrival window — not an all-day maybe.

What areas do you serve?

Toronto and everywhere within about three hours — the GTA and out toward Barrie, Kitchener-Waterloo, Peterborough, and Niagara. Not sure if that's you? Give us a call — we probably cover you.

02

Cost & Value

What affects the cost of a new furnace or AC?

Mostly four things: the size of your home, the efficiency rating you choose, the condition of your ductwork, and how tricky the install is. That's why quotes are free — we'd rather measure than guess.

Should I repair or replace?

A good rule of thumb: if the unit is past two-thirds of its expected life and the repair is a big one, replacement usually wins. We'll lay out both options and tell you straight — even when the answer is "just fix it."

How long does a furnace or AC last?

With yearly maintenance, a furnace typically runs 15–20 years and an AC 12–15. Skipping maintenance can shave years off both.

03

Trust & Credentials

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — fully licensed and insured for every job we take on. Happy to show you the paperwork before we start.

Are you a certified dealer for any brands?

We're independent — not tied to any one manufacturer. We install and service all major brands, including Carrier, Goodman, York, Lennox, Daikin, Navien, and more, so our advice is about what fits your home, not a sales quota.

Who shows up — is it the owner?

Yes. We're owner-operated — the person who quotes your job is the same licensed technician who does the work, and you'll always know who's coming to your door.

04

Hours & Emergencies

Are you really open 24/7?

Yes. Furnaces don't check the clock before they quit. Call any time — day or night, weekends and holidays included.

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

No heat in winter, no cooling during a heat wave (especially with kids, seniors, or pets at home), water leaking from your equipment, or any burning smell. When in doubt, call — we'll tell you honestly whether it can wait.

What do I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house right away — don't flip switches or light anything. From outside, call your gas utility's emergency line or 911. Once you're safe and the utility has cleared the home, call us and we'll take care of the repair.

05

Services & How Things Work

Why is my furnace short-cycling or blowing cold air?

The usual suspects are a clogged filter, a thermostat issue, or a dirty flame sensor. Try a fresh filter first — if that doesn't fix it, give us a call before it turns into a bigger repair.

Why isn't my AC cooling?

Check the filter and the breaker first. If the outdoor unit is running but the air isn't cold, it could be an iced-up coil or low refrigerant — both are quick for us to diagnose.

How often should I change my filter?

Every 1–3 months for standard 1-inch filters; thicker media filters last longer. Pets or allergies in the house? Change it more often — it's the cheapest maintenance there is.

What size furnace or AC do I need?

It's about more than square footage — insulation, windows, and ductwork all matter. Bigger isn't better: an oversized system short-cycles and wears out faster. We size it properly as part of a free quote.

Tankless vs. tank water heater?

Tankless gives you endless hot water and saves space; a tank costs less up front and is simpler to service. It depends on your household and gas line — we'll walk you through both without the sales pitch.

What's an HRV/ERV and do I need one?

It's a ventilator that brings in fresh air without throwing away the heat you've paid for. Newer, tightly sealed homes often need one — foggy windows and stale air are the telltale signs.

Do you install gas lines for stoves, BBQs, or pool heaters?

Yes — gas lines for stoves, BBQs, and pool heaters are all in our wheelhouse. Same free quote, same tidy work.

06

Maintenance

How often should I service my furnace and AC?

Once a year each: furnace in the fall, AC in the spring. It keeps warranties valid, catches small problems early, and keeps your bills where they should be.

Do you offer maintenance plans?

We keep it simple — no memberships or plans to sign up for.
